British Nordic Ski Futures Fund

Established in collaboration with the British Nordic Development Squad, this fund supports the future development of nordic skiing.

Grants from the fund will predominantly go to nordic athletes developing their skills, performance and ability to reach elite level, supporting pathway development programmes as well as encouraging widespread participation in the amateur sport of nordic skiing throughout Great Britain.

Nordic skiing remains an amateur sport at all levels. Individual skiers need substantial financial support to be able to train and compete in national and international events from their very first competitions through to the Olympic Games. And yet, despite strongly improving international performances and reputation over recent years (multiple World Cup podiums and more), British nordic skiing receives no funding at all from UK Sport. This makes competing internationally an uphill struggle and imperils the development of future international athletes at all levels from grassroots on upwards.

This Fund aims to play its part in encouraging the funding needed to sustain and develop nordic skiing throughout the UK.

An experienced and knowledgeable nomination panel including ex-competitive skiers and national coaching representation identifies and considers grant recipients before recommending to the Skiers Trust for award.

Individual and corporate donors to this Fund can do so on-line below. For individuals there is the opportunity to apply gift aid. For corporates there is the information provided to enable their donations to be offset against corporation tax.
