Our suite of Futures Funds aims to support the future of individual British competitive snowsport disciplines.
Each discipline’s global governing body operates a full international calendar in which British competitors take part. There are World and European Championships for each at senior and junior level and most are recognised by the IOC with events at every Winter Olympics. Their UK national governing bodies operate elite squads whilst the snowsport home nations and other key organisations run development programmes to support athletes’ in their progress to representing Great Britain on the world stage.
All snowsport disciplines remain an amateur sport at all levels in the UK albeit that athletes and their supporting organisations have a highly professional approach and mindset. None receive sufficient funding, some none at all, from UK Sport for them to compete on an equal footing with other nations never mind grow at grassroots level. It is a perennial problem at every level of their respective sporting pyramids - for governing bodies, the athletes and parents alike.
The Skiers Trust collaborates with individual snowsports governing bodies and national organisations to provide a suitable charitable vehicle for fundraising so that incoming donations can be made as effective as possible.
