Snowsports Competitor Fund

The fund supports all disciplines: Slalom, Giant Slalom, Downhill,Ski & Snowboard Cross, Moguls, Park & Pipe, Freeski, Freestyle, Telemark, Nordic and Biathlon to promote the next generation of British competitors in making the world stage.

The UK is passionate about its sports athletes who compete at an international level, especially during the Olympics or Paralympics. Podium finishes are publicly counted. Getting there is tough for talented athletes. It takes years of dedication and great expensive.

On top of extraordinary talent and commitment, it takes a major financial toll usually met at huge sacrifice by their parents. The costs of specialist equipment, training camps, professional coaching, travel and accommodation are high. It is a daunting task. For many the financial strain is too much and they have to give up their sporting ambitions.

The Snowsports Competitor Fund aims to give financial assistance to support athletes in their early development. They are usually between the ages of 16 to 25, with outstanding ability having been recognised for their exceptional talent through BARTS/BASS/FIS/IBU points for their snowsports discipline.

The Skiers Trust has a long and effective track record of supporting competitors through awarding grants to young people whilst they develop their talent. A majority of the current GB Snowsports World Cup squad and most of the Telemark ‘A’ Squad have received grants from us as they developed. A number of young people in GB Snowsports junior squads have also received recent support from the Trust.

In addition to providing grants, we recognised these young competitors through our Pool of Talent to help them achieve further sponsorship.
