Vincent Budge Award

The Vincent Budge Award was made in memory of Brigadier Vincent Budge CBE, MVO as a founding Trustee of the Skiers Trust and former UK FIS representative for Biathlon & Modern Pentathlon.

The selection criteria for the Vincent Budge Award is based on an independent assessment of a potential Nordic or Biathlon athlete, who shows real potential as a future Team GB British Winter Olympic competitor.

The candidate can be any age and in any position in their standing in the international arena, either as a Youth or Senior competitor. Their current performance and profile should provide real evidence of their true potential, which is recognised by their coach and team performance a manager. Ideally, there should be collaboration with other snowsport agencies or informed persons to endorse the individuals’ credentials, personal profile and favourable prospects.

A key aspect of the selection is that the candidate should be unaware of their consideration, until the award is announced. This award is made independently of the Grant Award System application, as it is specifically a restricted fund with independent adjudicator(s) nominated by the Trustees. This award is given once every two years through the trust's grant process, policy and accountability.
