British Telemark Futures Fund

Established in collaboration with GB Snowsport’s Telemark Committee, this fund supports the future development of competitive British telemark skiing.

British telemark skiing is one of the great snowsport success stories and currently lies fifth internationally in the FIS Telemark World Cup Tour national rankings. Yet telemark skiing receives no UK Sport funding. As amateur competitors, all British telemark skiers are self-funded and to compete they have to find the money to cover training and competition costs themselves. It is an uphill task.

This fund will be used to support the athletes in competition and the performance development programmes on which they depend. In addition, with success it will be used to encourage more athletes to become competitive telemark skiers for the future of the sport.

Telemark skiers usually come to the discipline after having first competed and developed their talent in other snowsport disciplines, primarily as alpine skiers. As a sports discipline it does not have its own traditional wide grass roots level but largely integrates with those of other snowsports. This means that competitive telemark skiers are relatively small in number and consist mainly of those within GB Snowsport’s national telemark team structure.

The fund has an experienced and knowledgeable nomination panel including ex-competitive telemark skiers and national coaching representation to identify grant recipients.

Individual and corporate donors to this Fund can do so on-line below. For individuals there is the opportunity to apply gift aid. For corporates there is the information provided to enable their donations to be offset against corporation tax.
