Pool of Talent

Our Pool of Talent recognises the potential young snowsports stars of the future. All have been helped in their early years with grant awards through the Skiers Trust ahead of joining GB Snowsports elite squads.

It has an effective and well-balanced membership. Currently 45% have progressed into GB Snowsports squads. 55% are male, 45% female. 60% compete in the traditional alpine disciplines, 40% in modern
snowsports disciplines.

Attracting financial assistance for equipment and travel to compete and train throughout the UK and Europe can be very difficult. Often through their parents and ski clubs, young competitors will attempt to win sponsorship and discounted equipment from suppliers. Without elite recognition it’s a challenge. Pool of Talent membership intends to give added weight to their search.

How do we know who to include in the Pool of Talent? Two of our Trustees have been ski racing champions and have managed the British Men’s and Women’s Ski Teams. They bring a wealth of knowledge and current contacts throughout the ski world and its coaches.

Those in our Pool of Talent are informed when a grant award is made to them. When they approach a sponsor or supplier, they can say that they are a member of the Skiers Trust Pool of Talent.

Sponsors and suppliers may contact us for confirmation. We welcome this. We do not publish the full membership list for safeguarding reasons as most current members are below the age of 18.

Past members of the Pool of Talent have gone on to represent the UK at Winter Olympics and on the World Cup circuit. They include members of the current GB Snowsport World Cup squad such as Charlie Guest, Laurie Taylor and Alex Tilley and also includes members of several GB Snowsport squads such as Cara Brown, Harry Wright, Jaz Taylor and Louis Hatchwell.
