Laurie is a member of the GB Alpine World Cup squad. He has received grant support through the Skiers Trust’s Snowsports Competitor Fund over several years as he developed his early career. He is a member of our Pool of Talent.

The 2020/21 season saw Laurie win his first slalom Europa Cup event at Val Cenis immediately followed by a podium place to achieve an overall season ranking of seventh. He has raced on the Europa Cup and World Cup for the past three years, (well) earning his first slalom world cup points in 2020.

On the FIS circuit he has eight wins and taken podium places another six times over the past five years.

Laurie has raced in the North American Cup, the Australia New Zealand Cup and the Far East Cup with a win and podium places in the latter.

He has been British Champion in GS and British Junior Champion in slalom. As a younger skier he won on the CIT circuit as well as achieving podium places in GS and slalom.

Laurie skied with the British Ski Academy in Les Houches, Chamonix for 10 years having been invited to train with them by Malcolm Erskine. During that time his family moved to New Zealand which led to him training with the Queenstown Alpine ski team during Southern Hemisphere winters. He continued to train there in British summers after moving back to England. He began skiing on dry slopes and joined the Aldershot ski race team when he was nine.

The Skiers Trust began supporting Laurie over ten years ago when he was beginning his competitive career. He is an example of the young people with snowsports potential who the Trust attempts to identify and provide much needed help in order for them to develop their talent.
